It's not often I find a sequel that surpasses the this is one of them. They managed to make a sequel with the same storyline but yet it was completely different and even funnier. We get a lot of customers who waste our time only to go home and order them online and get THE SAME ONES delivered from our store. One lady who does this regularly came in trying on a pair of boots. They were the only pair left in the store. She wastes our time as she always does trying it on and not buying. My manager knows what she’s like and tells her that if she orders them online at home she will pay shipping and end up getting the exact same ones she’s currently trying on. Of course she doesn’t listen and goes home without buying. My manager tells us if we get a request for those boots from online, don’t send them. Sure enough the next day they’re being asked for and we reject them. Usually if this happens the next closest store will then deliver them. The next day we get another request for them and reject them again. We actually end up selling the boots to another customer in store. About a week later, the same woman from before comes in complaining that she tried to order the boots online and they kept getting rejected so she wants to buy the ones in store. We tell her they’ve already been sold. She huffs and asks us to check online for her. Turns out we had THE ONLY pair left in the entire country. This was so satisfying to all of us because every single worker there has had their time wasted by her at some point. Kako uopšte predstaviti Swans? Kako predstaviti onoga koji dri uzde ove prelepe ivotinje groznog temperamenta? Michael Gira (Majkl Dirâ) je muzički alhemičar: od nadljudske buke stvara melodiju; od teskobne tame stvara čoveka koji sja. Već 35 godina, neumorno. Od rastrojeno prljavog, besnog, tutnjajućeg i izrazito telesnog početka ranih osamdesetih, preko rafiniranijeg, svetlijeg, eteričnog srednjeg perioda, iz albuma u album Swans su pomerali granice muzike i praktično stvarali čitave nove anrove. Svaki naredni korak bio je neočekivano otkrivena terra incognita, a onda, iznenada, samo godinu dana posle izdavanja klasika „Soundtracks For The Blind“ – 1997. godina, „Swans Are Dead“! Tek tako. „Pauza“ na kojoj je projekat Swans bio do 2010. godine moe se tako nazvati samo uslovno. Pauza bi značila zastajanje, a tvorac ne voli da stoji i nije dangubio. Kroz solo projekte, kroz Angels Of Light i rad sa bendovima na svojoj etiketi Young God Records, manično kreativni Gira je nastavio da osvetljava nepoznato, uznevši tradiciju Dilanovskog njujorškog folka u drugu dimenziju. Svi ovi molekuli itekako su ugrađeni u savremenu Swans inkarnaciju, što je bilo potpuno jasno na povratničkom albumu „My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky“ (2010. ), iako će se ubrzo potom novi Swans, katalizovani dugom i intenzivnom povratničkom turnejom, preobraziti u nešto sasvim drugačije… Swans zapravo nikada nisu „umrli“, prestali su da postoje samo formalno. Posle mitarenja su se samo ponovo materijalizovali pred nama, da bi nas utopili u svoju savremenu, najsoničniju do sad ivotnu formu. Verujem da 1997. godine niko nije pretpostavljao takav epilog. Zato su albumi trostruki, a pesme dugačke po petnaest, dvadeset minuta. Moda bi bilo bolje nazvati ih komadima; Gira kae da ne voli da ograničava muziku na format pesme. Prvi ozbiljniji bend u kome se pojavio bio je Santeria, psihodelični junjački rok, psyoutern rock kako su sami krstili anr. Santeria su objavili tri albuma, imali su brojne turneje po SAD, a na jugu nije bilo mesta sa barom u kome nisu svirali za 10 godina postojanja. Bend je raspušten 2004, posle niza godina loše sreće i bezbroj neobjašnjivih pehova. Dege Legg se potom posvećuje pisanju novih pesama, usput radeći svaki mogući posao ne bi li preiveo. Dege je bio perač sudova, taksista, radnik u skloništu za beskućnike, novinar… Iako je ozbiljno razmišljao o solo karijeri 2005. formira Black Bayou Construkt koji neće dugo potrajati i imaće samo jedan album. Do 2009. akumulira pregršt pesama i pod imenom Brother Dege 2010. izdaje „Folk Songs Of The American Longhair“, ploču na kojoj je i njegov najpoznatiji hit Too Old To Die Young, ali i druge sjajne pesme koje su ga izdvojile iz proseka anrovske ponude SAD. Blues, southern rock, alt country, swamp boogie i stalno prisutni voodoo ritam u kombinaciji sa reskim zvukom Degeovog dobroa i njegovim junjačkim pričama ovaj put doprli su do većeg broja ljudi, a jedan od njih je i Quentin Tarantino koji je iskoristio Too Old To Die Young u filmu Django Unchained 2012. godine. Istovremeno, Brother Dege nastupa i kao solo umetnik, sam sa gitarom i dobrom, ali svira koncerte i sa poznatim junjačkim blues rock bendom Brethren. 2013. izlazi „How to Kill a Horse“, još jedan minimalistički album, a prošle „Scorched Earth Policy“, ploča raskošnije produkcije. Brother Dege & The Brotherhood su od oktobra do decembra na drugoj evropskoj turneji ove godine. Jam session koji je trajao skoro neprekidno puna dva dana u “Omnia B” studiju u Milanu rezultirao je velikim brojem obrada kao i autorskih kompozicija, a producent i idejni tvorac benda bio je siguran da je to ono za čim je tragao par godina unazad. Sasvim prirodan miks više anrova (funk, jazz, rock, prog-rock), istančan osećaj za improvizacije i savršeno slaganje muzičara potvrdili su da je bend spreman za izlazak iz studija. Sledećih nekoliko meseci Calibro 35 sviraju po Evropi, a tokom proleća i leta 2008. pune klubove u matičnoj Italiji. Na jesen 2008. objavljuju prvi album. U decembru iste godine završavaju svoj prvi soundtrack za film “Said” tako što su tokom interne projekcije filma snimali uivo u čuvenom rimskom studiju “Forum” koji je osnovao Ennio Morricone 1969. godine. 2009. snimaju singl “Tutta Donna” sa gostujućom pevačicom (Georgeanne Kalweit) koji stie na prvo mesto italijanske nezavisne radio top liste. Iste godine pišu muziku za američki dokumentarac “Eurocrime! ” upravo posvećen filmskom anru na kom sastav bazira svoj muzički izraz – italijanskim krimi i policijskim filmovima, te odlaze na uspešnu turneju po SAD, ali i rade na sledećoj ploči. Početkom 2010. objavljuju novi album “Ritornano Quelli di…Calibro 35″. Bend je tokom godine na turneji po Italiji i poseban kuriozitet su ive svirke tokom projekcija filmova kao i pojavljivanje par pesama za potrebe holivudskog filma “Red”. 8. juna u Milanu sviraju ispred Muse, a album biva licencno objavljen i u Velikoj Britaniji, i u SAD početkom jula meseca. U januaru 2011. izlazi im kompilacija B strana singlova i neobjavljenog materijala “Rare”, a u oktobru prihvataju još jedan veliki izazov – sa milanskim simfonijskim orkestrom nastupaju u obradama tema iz italijanskih horor filmova 70-tih u obnovljenom pozorištu Teatro Dal Verme. Treći album “Ogni riferimento a persone esistenti o a fatti realmente accaduti è puramente casuale” (svaka sličnost sa stvarnim osobama ili događajima je potpuno slučajna), izlazi početkom 2012, a u oktobru 2013. „Traditori di tutti“, ploča posle koje su se za ove momke otvorila mnoga vrata, a najpre vrata bitnijih zapadnoevropskih klubova kojima su Calibro 35 protutnjali tokom turneje kao nastavku promocije albuma rasprodavši dvorane u metropolama kao što su: London, Berlin, Madrid, Pariz, Rim. Prošle godine izlazi peta ploča “S. P. C. E. ” koju su snimili u legendarnom londonskom studiju Toe Rag (“savršeni fank soundtrack za naučno-fantastični film koji bi reirao Serđo Leone”), a nedavno i ivi album “CLBR35 Live From S. ”. Calibro 35 su jedan od najuvebanijih bendova na svetu kada je koncert u pitanju, a prilika da ih beogradska publika pogleda biće u subotu, 5. novembra u KC Gradu od 21:00. Kada se tome doda da i solidan broj indie-rock bendova flertuje sa ovim zvukom, te da su perjanice moderne verzije anra (The Growlers, Ty Segall i Thee Oh Sees) danas maltene stadionske atrakcije, onda teško da ima sumnje kakva treba da bude muzika koja “radi” današnje klince. Psihodelični rok 21. veka se i geografski raširio od Severne i June Amerike, preko Evrope do Australije, a meksička scena čiji su najpoznatiji predstavnici Lorelle Meets The Obsolete i Has A Shadow, jedna je od najaktivnijih i najzanimljivijih. Lorelle Meets The Obsolete su Lorel (Lorena Kintanilja) i The Obsolete (Alberto Gonzales). Dolaze iz Gvadalahare, ali su se nakon kraćeg zadravanja u Meksiko Sitiju konačno skrasili u Ensenadi (Donja Kalifornija). Njihova muzika je mešavina šugejza i krautroka propuštena kroz sito psihodelije, dok je oni sami nazivaju muzikom obrazaca. Izdali su tri studijska albuma – „On Welfare“ (Captcha Records, 2011. ), „Corruptible Faces“ (Captcha Records, 2013. ) i „Chambers“ (Captcha Records, Sonic Cathedral 2014. ) – kao i odabrane split i 7-inčne singlove. Album „Chambers“ izašao je 3. marta 2014. Za snimanje i miks bio je zaduen CAVE-ov Kuper Krejn, za master Sonic Boom, a izdavači su legendarni britanski Sonic Cathedral i čikaška indi etiketa Captcha Records (na kojoj se već baškare Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees i mnogi drugi). Album je pobrao sve same odlične kritike koje su objavili The Times, Q, Visions, Magic RPM, BBC Radio 6, XFM i Crack, a NME je pomalo grubo, ali vrlo precizno opisao singl „What’s Holding You? “ sledećim rečima: „zvuči kao da su se u Stereolabu razneli najfinijim plavim kristalom Voltera Vajta, pa počeli da oponašaju Queens Of The Stone Age“. Izdavanje albuma pratile su turneje po Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, Evropi, SAD i Meksiku koje su imale sjajan odjek, a njihov deo bili su i nastupi na većim festivalima kao što su Liverpool Psych Fest, Austin Psych Fest, Incubate Festival (Tilburg), Moon Block Party (Pomona) i Festival Germinal del Bosque (Meksiko Siti). Ovaj duo nastupa kao petorka kojoj se pridruuju evropski i američki muzičari (sada su to članovi sastava New Candys i Disappearing People), a svirke koje predvodi Lorenina fantastična gitara su intenzivne i zapaljive. Pored Captcha Records u SAD, sada i Sonic Cathedral izdaje „Balance“, njihov novi i četvrti po redu album. Kuper Krejn (CAVE, Bitchin’ Bajas) je ponovo uradio miks, Miki Jang (Total Control) se pozabavio masterom, a rezultat je doivljaj sa mnogo više samopreispitivanja. Henri Rolins, veliki ljubitelj benda, kae da je ovaj album „kao i njegovi prethodnici, još jedno jedinstveno i zadivljujuće umetničko delo koje postaje sve bolje, što ga due slušate“. Početkom 2015. godine ritam sekcija Avalanche Party (braća Jordan i Joseph Bell) započinje saradnju sa Timothyjem, Jordan Bell prelazi na drugu gitaru i The Magick Godmothers su formirani! Sledi pregršt nastupa po Velikoj Britaniji sa vrhunskim imenima modernog Punk/Blues/Garage zvuka iz SAD (Left Lane Cruiser, James Leg, Lee Baines III, Bob Log III…). Punk/Blues bend sa jakim garanim pečatom i šmekerskom dozom Pub-Rock stila – The Magick Godmothers – po prvi put svira u Beogradu u sredu, 20. jula u Elektropioniru, a od 21:00. It's been about a month since I decided to watch the train wreck from a safe distance rather than be part of it quit FFBE. Figured I'd give an update. It's going to be in the style of an interview because that's clearly a sensible approach. Have you missed FFBE? Nope. Not in the slightest. There were no withdrawal symptoms or anything. I don't even think about FFBE unless I'm on Reddit. It was surprisingly easy to let it go once I decided to quit. I didn't get the urge to pick the game back up until recently when Bahamut 2-star was released. The feeling was short lived as I knew that alone wasn't worth coming back for. (Fuck you Gumi for delaying Bahamut 2-star so long) So you still visit the FFBE subreddits? The blog; yes, almost daily. I don't have much to shitpost about anymore so mostly lurk. I did finally update the sidebar! I should probably add the new GL units to the flairs considering all the hype. The main sub; not really. Only if comments in the blog suggest that there's drama/outrage worth checking out. The meme sub; hardly ever visited it even when I was playing. No reason to visit anymore. Has your sleeping pattern improved? Maybe? My sleeping pattern is notoriously bad. As a kid I had insomnia. Whilst I don't have it anymore, I still find it difficult to go to sleep or wake up at a sensible time. If it weren't for having to go to work people would mistake me for a vampire. When I was playing FFBE seriously I likely slept less than before but it did help me get up in the morning somewhat regularly (gotta use those orbs! ). After I went casual I probably slept about the same amount as before I played, but more erratically. I'm probably sleeping more now although that might be because I had time off work over Christmas which seriously messed with my sleeping pattern. I feel more rested at least. I think I'll need more time to work out what quitting FFBE has done to my sleep. What have you been doing with your new found free time? Hard to say. I usually had FFBE running in the background on my PC. I would play it whilst doing other things; checking emails, watching Youtube, surfing Reddit etc. I rarely focused specifically on playing FFBE. I do feel like I have one less thing to think/worry about which is great. But you must have replaced FFBE with another game right? Yes! About a month before I dropped FFBE I actually started playing Spiral Knights again. For those that don't know, it's a free game on Steam. You run around dungeons with other players online, think Zelda 4 Swords. I used to play it back in 2011 and recently found out it still exists. I opened the game to see if my account was still there and it was! Someone instantly noticed I was an old player (5-star equipment but had the lowest possible rank since ranks didn't exist back in 2011), gave me an update on everything that's changed and invited me to their awesomely named guild: Sexy Knights. I played that for about two months and have basically quit again since I've done all the 'new' content that doesn't require shit-tons of farming. The current time-limited helmet everyone wants requires fighting a rare enemy that has a 1/90 chance of appearing in place of a specific type of regular enemy. When you kill it there's a 1/250 chance of it dropping an item required to get the helmet. Most people will farm for the duration of the event and not get the helmet. ¬_¬ Two days ago I started FFXIII-2. About time considering I bought it many years ago. Enjoying it so far although the monster taming odds are already annoying me (yea, I hate farming). I expect to be thoroughly confused by the time-travelling aspect of it. I'll let Tom review the game when he inevitably plays it as research for the PPD. But you originally downloaded FFBE because you wanted a game to play whilst pooping, right? Yes. Obviously I don't play Spiral Knights or FFXIII-2 whilst growing a monkey tail. I now play a puzzle game instead. So no gacha games then?
